Work out the chargeable weight and line price of a HooBuy parcel before you submit it

Status and facts checked .

Short answer: This HooBuy shipping calculator turns weight and box size into a chargeable weight (the larger of actual and volumetric) and prices every HooBuy line to Germany, Italy, France, Brazil, the US or the UK from estimator quotes read on 26 October 2026. It adds the typical ¥8 declaration and optional 3% insurance, and saves your inputs in the page address.

Chargeable weight decides the line price

HooBuy's help centre bills the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight (length x width x height in cm divided by 5,000 to 8,000, depending on the carrier). All 25 estimator lines carry a "Volumetric" tag, so box size matters everywhere, and rehearsal packing (¥20 a parcel) reports the real packed weight before you pay shipping.

Example: Germany, a 1,200 g hoodie (¥180, an example price) in a 40 x 30 x 15 cm box, Dhl europe package-f1 at ¥0.0982 a gram:

Volumetric weight = 40 x 30 x 15 / 6,000 = 3.00 kg, so chargeable weight = 3,000 g

Shipping = 3,000 x 0.0982 = ¥294.60 (€42.63 at ¥6.91 per €1)

Declaration ¥8; insurance = 0.03 x (180 + 294.60) = ¥14.24

Total = 294.60 + 8 + 14.24 = ¥316.84, about €45.85

Without the box maths: 1,200 x 0.0982 = ¥117.84, plus ¥8 = ¥125.84 (€18.21). The box added ¥176.76 (€25.58).

Measure the packed box, not just the item; in this example a 3 kg box would bill as 3 kg although the hoodie weighs 1.2 kg.

Every line with three quotes is a straight line in weight; E express--uk has a fixed part of about ¥78 plus ¥0.133 a gram. Br-standard-f covers 0-3kg by its name, and BR-STANDARD-F:2-30kg was quoted only at 2,000 g, so the calculator shows Brazil lines only inside those ranges.

Pick the line from this table, then confirm it on the estimator with your real box size.

What gets added to the line price

HooBuy's cost article says a customs declaration "generally" costs ¥8, so the calculator adds ¥8 per line. Insurance is 3% of item value plus shipping; HooBuy insurance covers the claim windows, which the article states as both 90 and 120 days. Item prices, domestic delivery and extras such as ¥1 photos are not included, and neither is the 8% service charge in HooBuy's registration agreement, which its fee pages contradict.

HooBuy carries the Hold label here: its estimator worked on 26 October 2026, but buyers reported stuck orders and unpaid refunds from June to September 2026. Pay per order and per parcel.

The calculator gives a planning figure for shipping plus ¥8; fees on the item side come on top.

Taxes the calculator does not compute

Each result carries a note for your country; none is added to the total. EU parcels meet import VAT from the first euro and, since 1 July 2026, a €3 duty per tariff category. Brazil needs a CPF, and its US$50 rule counts product, shipping and insurance together, so the Brazil result shows that sum in dollars when you enter an item value. See the customs guide.

Treat the calculator total as shipping only; duty and VAT are separate and set by customs.

Share or save a result

Press Calculate and your inputs go into the page address, for example ?to=DE&g=1000. "Copy this result" copies one sentence plus that address; Share appears where the browser supports it. To skip an account while HooBuy is on Hold, send us the row on WhatsApp (see the contact page) and pay per order. Old row links can be rebuilt with the HooBuy link converter.

A shared link reproduces the same inputs, so a second pair of eyes can check the maths.

What HooBuy buyers ask

Which HooBuy line is cheapest for 1 kg to Germany?

On 26 October 2026 HooBuy's estimator quoted ¥98.20 (€14.21 at HooBuy's own rate of ¥6.91 per €1) for Dhl europe package-f1, the lowest of five German lines, listed at 10-15 days. The most expensive, European air freight-t, was ¥169.91 (€24.59). Those are weight-only quotes with no box size, so a bulky parcel on a volumetric line can bill more than this calculator shows.

What divisor should I choose for volumetric weight?

Leave 6,000 unless a line says otherwise. HooBuy's estimator FAQ gives length x width x height in cm divided by 6,000 as the rule for most air cargo, while its help centre says 5,000, 6,000, 7,000 or 8,000 depending on the carrier, with no per-line table. A smaller divisor gives a heavier parcel, so choose 5,000 if you want the cautious figure.

Does the result include import VAT or the EU €3 duty?

No. The totals contain the line price, the typical ¥8 declaration and, if you tick it, 3% insurance. EU import VAT (19% Germany, 22% Italy, 20% France) and the €3 duty per tariff category depend on what is in the parcel, and HooBuy has not published how it handles the €3. The notes under each result state the country rule without calculating it.

Why is the insurance figure 3% of item value plus shipping?

HooBuy's insurance article gives the premium as (item or declared value + shipping cost) x 3%, so the calculator multiplies your item value in yuan plus the line price by 0.03. Coupons are deducted from shipping first, which we do not model. Brazil parcels without insurance are not eligible for any compensation under the same article, which is why the box is worth a look there.

How current are the prices behind the calculator?

They are the quotes we read from hoobuy.com/estimation on 26 October 2026, built into the script, and HooBuy can change them at any time. Between 500 g and 2,000 g each line matched a straight line, so we extend that line; below 500 g we use the 500 g price, and above 2,000 g the extension is our assumption. Check the estimator before you submit a parcel.
