Can a Taobao row go into HooBuy, and what did the link do?
It can. HooBuy builds product links as hoobuy.com/product/{code}/{item ID}, and Taobao is code 1 (Weidian is 2, 1688 is 0). On 26 October 2026 we opened a Taobao item through that format without being logged in, and HooBuy redirected us to its login page. A Weidian item opened the same way loaded straight away, which is covered on the Weidian page.
That is a small finding, not a verdict: we did not test with an account, and a redirect says nothing about stock or price.
The bigger question is HooBuy itself. Its site worked on 26 October, but from June to September 2026 Trustpilot and Reclame Aqui reviewers reported paid orders stuck at "Purchased" and refunds not arriving. Our label is Hold (see the HooBuy status page): pay per order and start small.
The Taobao link format is valid; whether you want to log in and pay on HooBuy is the real decision.

HooBuy does not explain how to tell the two apart from a link, and its code list names only 0, 1 and 2. For a Tmall row, check the shop page on the marketplace and run the ID through the HooBuy link converter.
Taobao is the wide, uneven market; Tmall is the pricier one, and HooBuy publishes no separate code for it.
Hearts, guarantee deposits and the no-cancel rule
HooBuy puts the seller check on you. Its help centre suggests shops with more than three hearts that have paid the Taobao guarantee deposit, and warns that low-credit sellers without it can mean false delivery, no delivery or no after-sale service, with the loss on you.
The second rule bites harder. For deposit items, HooBuy states the order cannot be cancelled once placed: you must clear the outstanding balance when the seller asks, and if you miss the deadline the deposit is not returned. Look for a deposit label on the listing first.
On price, HooBuy's own pages disagree. Article id 24 says there is no service fee for Taobao, Tmall, 1688 and others; the registration agreement (id 115) states 8% of the goods price plus 8% of the shipping cost. On an example ¥100 item that is ¥8 more.
Check hearts and the guarantee first, spot the deposit label, and treat the fee as unsettled.

Editing a paid order restarts its processing clock. If a Taobao order sits at Purchased beyond the dispatch window, open a ticket and keep screenshots; our order status page lists the labels.

Moving a Taobao row to another agent
Take the item ID from the HooBuy link, rebuild the Taobao address, check that it shows the same product, and paste it into the new agent. KakoBuy lists Taobao, Tmall, 1688 and JD.com as officially well supported, with priority-purchase hours Monday to Sunday for Taobao and Tmall. Why did my HooBuy Taobao link send me to a login page?
On 26 October 2026 we opened a Taobao item through hoobuy.com/product/1/ and an item ID while logged out, and HooBuy redirected us to its login page.
