Delivery to France from HooBuy: five lines, what TVA adds and how long parcels take

Frais de livraison is French for delivery charges. For HooBuy they begin with the estimator, which on 26 October 2026 gave us five France lines for a weight with no dimensions. Tags on all five: Volumetric, Tax Free and Insurance Available. Euros follow HooBuy's rate of ¥6.91.

France's lowest line, f1, costs ¥102.80 (€14.88) a kilogram, ¥4.60 above the same line to Germany. The France special line is ¥12.32 dearer and lists 10-15 days against 12-17.

France costs a little more than Germany, and f1 is still the cheapest line.

Delivery days: what HooBuy lists against what its chart shows

The two sets of numbers disagree in a way worth knowing before you plan. Every France line lists at least 10 days, and air freight-t lists 15-20, yet HooBuy's chart puts between 13% and 15% of parcels on each line inside 0-7 days. When HooBuy's clock starts is not stated, and the chart is unverified.

Air freight-m shows the most parcels in 0-7 days (14.92%) and also the most in 16-25 (6.87%), so a wider spread, not a faster line. No line shows parcels beyond 25 days. Days before dispatch are on HooBuy shipping time.

No France line looks clearly faster, so choose on price.

20% TVA and the €3 duty

TVA (taxe sur la valeur ajoutée) is France's VAT. Two charges stack on a French parcel. TVA is 20% from the first euro. The duty is a flat €3 per tariff sub-heading in parcels worth up to €150, in force from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2028 and reported in the Council of the EU's own release of 11 February 2026. HooBuy's help centre is silent on the €3 and publishes no France-specific rule. Declaring is covered on the HooBuy customs page.

The price is an example in one tariff category; we left out HooBuy's declaration fee and the seller's delivery within China. Goods are ¥240 / 6.91 = €34.73, duty is €3.00 and TVA on goods alone is 34.73 x 0.20 = €6.95. We did not verify whether TVA also covers freight and duty, so the last two columns show both bases.

Moving from f1 to the special line adds €1.78 to €2.14; air freight-m adds €7.80 to €9.36.

Tall boxes are where France quotes go wrong. This one is 33,750 cm³, so 5.63 kg on the estimator's 6,000, 6.75 kg on 5,000 and 4.22 kg on 8,000. What does HooBuy delivery to France cost for a 2 kg parcel?

HooBuy's estimator quoted ¥205.60 (€29.75 at HooBuy's rate of ¥6.91) for 2,000 g to France on DHL europe package-f1 on 26 October 2026. The France special line was ¥230.24 (€33.32) and European air freight-t ¥366.54 (€53.04). Doubling the weight doubled the price on f1. Duty, TVA and any volumetric weight come on top of these quotes.

Is TVA charged on a HooBuy parcel to France?

Yes, import VAT applies from the first euro, at 20% in France, and HooBuy's article calling parcels up to €150 "usually exempt" is outdated. On a ¥240 example jumper (€34.73), 20% on goods alone is €6.95. HooBuy's help centre does not say how its lines collect that TVA, so ask HooBuy in writing before you pay for the parcel.

Which HooBuy line to France is fastest?

No line is clearly fastest. HooBuy lists 10-15 days for the France special line and air freight-m, and 12-17 for package-f1. Its chart puts 13.54% of f1 parcels and 14.92% of air freight-m parcels inside a week. That is HooBuy's own statistic, which we did not verify, so choose by price and by the day range you need.

Does the €3 duty apply to every HooBuy parcel to France?

It applies to B2C parcels up to €150 from 1 July 2026, as a flat €3 per different tariff category, until 1 July 2028. A jumper alone is one category, so €3; adding shoes makes €6. Whether HooBuy's Tax Free lines include it is not published, and a parcel over €150 falls outside that rule.

On 26 October 2026 HooBuy's TrustScore was 3.7 across 571 reviews, 64% of them five stars and 29% one star. The newest reviews, dated 27 July to 15 September 2026, are all one star and describe orders stuck at Purchased and refunds not paid. They are individual reviews we did not verify; HooBuy replied to 4% of negative ones.

Why is my France parcel priced above the quote?

The quotes were weight only, and every France line is tagged Volumetric, so the bill follows the greater of actual and volumetric weight. A 45 x 30 x 25 cm box is 5.63 kg at a divisor of 6,000, so at 2 kg actual f1 would bill about ¥578.25 instead of ¥205.60. HooBuy allows divisors from 5,000 to 8,000.
