What a shoe row on a HooBuy sheet tells you, and what it leaves out
A shoe row on a HooBuy spreadsheet is a photo, a yuan price and a link such as hoobuy.com/product/2/ID, where the digit names the marketplace. Nothing in the row gives you the weight of the boxed pair, the insole length of your size or the condition of the glue under the sole. Those three facts decide whether a ¥150 pair of runners ends up cheap or expensive, so this page is about collecting them before you pay.
The link still works. Using HooBuy's format, we loaded a Weidian item on 26 October 2026, and the page showed fields called "Weight(g)" and "Volume(cm)". HooBuy is also on Hold on this site, because some reviewers described paid orders that never moved past "Purchased" in summer 2026. Pay per order, make the first order a single pair, and if you would rather not use HooBuy, move the row with the link converter.
A shoe row is only a doorway; weight, size in cm and sole condition are yours to find out.
Why the shoe box decides the shipping bill
The charge is whichever is higher, scale weight or volumetric weight. HooBuy's estimator FAQ divides length times width times height, in centimetres, by 6,000, and its help centre allows 5,000 to 8,000 depending on the carrier. Every line we read on 26 October 2026 carried the tag "Volumetric". A shoe box is mostly air, so it is the classic case where the scale says one thing and the invoice says another.
The worked example takes HooBuy's Italy quote on DHL europe package-f1, ¥99.00 for a kilogram (€14.33), taken as ¥0.099 per gram because the quotes rose in a straight line. Real bills use weight steps. The Brazil column uses Br-standard-f at ¥123.79 per 1,000 g ($20.50), and we assume the same 6,000 divisor there, which HooBuy does not state for that line. The package sizes are examples we made up.
| Packing | Size (cm) | On the scale | Volume weight | Billed | To Italy | To Brazil |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pair in its box | 34 x 24 x 14 | 1,040 g | 1,904 g | 1,904 g | ¥188.50 (€27.28) | ¥235.70 ($39.02) |
| Box flattened or slimmer | 32 x 22 x 12 | 990 g | 1,408 g | 1,408 g | ¥139.39 (€20.17) | ¥174.30 ($28.86) |
| Pair in a bag, no box | 30 x 21 x 11 | 780 g | 1,155 g | 1,155 g | ¥114.35 (€16.55) | ¥142.98 ($23.67) |
Boxed pair, Italy: 34 x 24 x 14 = 11,424 cm3, which is 1.904 kg once divided by 6,000; 1,904 g x ¥0.099 = ¥188.50
Bagged pair, Italy: 30 x 21 x 11 = 6,930 cm3, which is 1.155 kg once divided by 6,000; 1,155 g x ¥0.099 = ¥114.35
Gap: ¥188.50 - ¥114.35 = ¥74.15, which is €10.73 at HooBuy's rate of ¥6.91 per euro
The boxed pair is billed for 864 g it does not weigh. The estimator quotes above were weight only, so the ¥99.00 you see online is a floor for a shoe. Our shipping calculator lets you enter your own box, and the shipping cost guide lists every line.
For shoes, the volume figure is the price; the scale only matters once the box is gone.
Two pairs in one parcel: where a bigger box catches you
Combining pairs saves the per-parcel charges, since HooBuy's example of combining three items drops from 1071 to 645 RMB on a GD-EMS route to the USA. Shoes complicate that. Two boxed pairs side by side measure 34 x 48 x 14 cm, which is 22,848 cm3, or 3,808 g of volume weight against 2,080 g on the scale. Two bagged pairs at 30 x 42 x 11 cm give 2,310 g.
Two boxed pairs, Italy: 3,808 g x ¥0.099 = ¥376.99 (€54.56)
Two bagged pairs, Italy: 2,310 g x ¥0.099 = ¥228.69 (€33.10)
Gap: ¥376.99 - ¥228.69 = ¥148.30, or €21.46 at ¥6.91 per euro
HooBuy's help centre says customs declaration generally costs about ¥8 per parcel and that parcels over 10 kg look more commercial, neither of which bites here. What does bite is that a second boxed pair adds ¥188.50 to the bill, almost the same as the first. Rehearsal packing, a ¥20 service that packs and weighs the parcel before you submit it, shows the billed figure first; the rehearsal packing guide covers the steps.
A second boxed pair costs almost as much as the first; bagged, it costs about two fifths less.
Size conversion in five steps
HooBuy's help articles that we read contain no shoe-size chart, and sellers on Taobao, Weidian and 1688 print their own labels. Measuring in centimetres removes the guesswork.
- Measure your longer foot. Stand on paper in the evening, mark the heel and the longest toe, and measure in cm. Example: 26.5 cm.
- Add the room you want. For running socks and a thumb of space, our example allowance is 1.0 cm: 26.5 + 1.0 = 27.5 cm.
- Get the insole length for each size. Look for a size chart in cm among the listing images; if there is none, ask support or skip the row.
- Take the smallest size at or above your target. A 27.0 cm insole is too short for a 27.5 cm target; a 27.5 cm insole fits. When two sizes straddle the target, knit uppers forgive a short insole more than leather does.
- Store both numbers in the sheet. Write the label and the cm figure in the size column, so a row moved to another agent keeps the maths.
HooBuy's inspectors check that the label size matches the listing but not how the shoe fits, so the maths is the only fit check you get. If you wear different sizes in different shapes, ask for the insole of your size in a photo with a ruler laid along it.
Choose by insole centimetres and keep the label only as a cross-check.
QC points to request on runners and sneakers
The standard set is usually three photos from different angles (front, back, side or logo). The check covers colour, size, model, version number, large damage and stains; thread details, minor colour difference and actual fit are outside the check. The points below fall in that gap, so they need a detailed photo, which the order form prices at ¥1 each; its cap is 10 per item, while the help centre says 20.
| Ask for | What it shows | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Size tag inside the tongue | Label size and model code | Matches your cm maths and the listing |
| Sole and heel from below | Tread depth, wear, glue edges | Standard angles rarely show the underside |
| Midsole line, both shoes | Glue marks and stitching | Thread detail is not in HooBuy's check |
| Both shoes from behind | Heel symmetry and lean | One crooked heel is visible only side by side |
| Insole and box label | Printing, size and colour code | Cross-check with the item page |
| Laces and eyelets close up | Fraying, uneven holes | Cheap to fix only before dispatch |
Six detailed photos cost ¥6, or €0.87 at HooBuy's rate. A QC video is ¥15 (€2.17), limited to one per item. Our QC photo guide for sheet rows explains what each option costs and the QC photos page sets out the full inspection scope.
Order the sole, the midsole and the heel view; the standard three photos skip them.
The box, the return window and Italy's leather note
There is a trade-off between the shipping saving and the right to return. HooBuy's rules say items whose tags or packaging were removed at the user's request cannot be returned or exchanged, and they list sneakers with the anti-theft clasp or anti-damage sticker intact as a Special Standards case. The return window is 5 days (120 hours), and the count begins an hour after the item is marked Stored. The sequence that protects you: read the QC photos, order the extra ones, wait for them, decide, and only then ask for the box to be removed.
HooBuy's help centre also calls Italy "sensitive with importing leather shoes" and gives no detail. We cannot say which parcels this affects, so ask support before sending leather pairs to Italy. For customs in general, the EU charges import VAT from the first euro, and from 1 July 2026 IOSS parcels worth up to €150 pay €3 on each tariff category, a temporary rule the Council of the EU announced on 11 February 2026. It is per category, never per item, and HooBuy's pages are silent on its handling; see HooBuy customs and tax ID and the refund and return rules.
Readers in Brazil search for "tenis", the Portuguese word for sneakers. The Brazil route and its tax rule are on HooBuy to Brazil, and Italy's line prices are on HooBuy to Italy. If you would like a second look at a shoe row's size and box before you pay, our WhatsApp is on the contact page, and each order is paid separately.
Remove the box last, after you have approved the pair.
What HooBuy buyers ask
How much more does a boxed sneaker pair cost to ship than a bagged pair?
In our worked example, a boxed pair (34 x 24 x 14 cm, 1,040 g on the scale) billed as 1,904 g and cost ¥188.50 on HooBuy's Italy line, DHL europe package-f1. The same shoes bagged (30 x 21 x 11 cm) billed 1,155 g and cost ¥114.35. That is ¥74.15, or €10.73 at HooBuy's own rate of ¥6.91 per euro. The dimensions are invented.
Which size should I order when a Chinese listing shows only its own size labels?
Order by insole length in centimetres, not by the label. Measure your longer foot in the evening, add the room you want (we use 1.0 cm as an example), and ask the seller for the insole length of each size. A 26.5 cm foot plus 1.0 cm needs an insole of at least 27.5 cm. Write both the label and the cm figure into your sheet.
What should I ask for in QC photos of running shoes?
Ask for the size tag inside the tongue, the sole and heel from underneath, the midsole glue line, both shoes from behind, and the insole with the box label. HooBuy's inspectors check colour, size, large damage, stains, model and version number, not thread details or fit, so thread and glue photos are extra. HooBuy's order form lists detailed photos at ¥1 each.
Can I send sneakers back if the box has been removed?
Probably not. HooBuy's returns rules exclude items whose tags or packaging were removed at the user's request, and they list sneakers with the anti-theft clasp or anti-damage sticker as a Special Standards case. The window is 5 days (120 hours) from the status Stored. Approve the QC photos first, and only then ask for the box to go.
Are tênis rows more expensive to ship to Brazil than to Italy?
Per kilo, yes. On 26 October 2026 HooBuy's estimator quoted ¥123.79 ($20.50 at its rate of ¥6.04 per dollar) for 1,000 g on Br-standard-f, against ¥99.00 (€14.33) to Italy on DHL europe package-f1. Our boxed pair at 1,904 g would be about ¥235.70 ($39.02) to Brazil, and HooBuy lists 15 to 30 days there.
Does HooBuy show a shoe's weight on the item page?
The Weidian item page we opened on 26 October 2026 has fields labelled Weight(g) and Volume(cm). We did not check whether sellers fill them for shoes, and a seller's figure is rarely the boxed weight. Treat it as a hint, then confirm the real weight with rehearsal packing, which HooBuy prices at ¥20 per parcel.
