Shipping to Italy through HooBuy: five euro line prices and the IVA bill at the door

Status and facts checked .

Short answer: HooBuy's estimator quoted ¥99.00 (€14.33 at HooBuy's rate of ¥6.91) for 1,000 g to Italy on DHL europe package-f1 on 26 October 2026, a little above Germany. Italy adds a flat €3 duty per tariff category on parcels up to €150 since 1 July 2026, plus 22% IVA from the first euro. Our two-category example parcel lands between €147.65 and €155.27.

Italy line prices in euros at ¥6.91

Spedizione is Italian for shipping. HooBuy's estimator, asked on 26 October 2026 for a destination and three weights but no box size, offered five lines to Italy. Each carries Tax Free, Insurance Available and Volumetric tags, and euro figures use HooBuy's own rate.

Italy lines in euros, yuan in brackets, as quoted on 26 October 2026

European air freight-t€12.93 (¥89.34)€25.86 (¥178.68)€51.72 (¥357.36)15-20

At ¥99.00 (€14.33) a kilogram, f1 is again the lowest line, and the table shows no first-weight step: each price doubles when the weight does.

For Italy the cheapest quote is f1 at about €14.33 a kilogram, before tax.

Italy against Germany, line by line

Every Italy line costs more than its German twin at 1,000 g, and the gap is largest on the dearest line. The difference ranges from €0.12 on f1 to €1.27 on air freight-t.

Italy minus Germany at 1,000 g, same line name
LineYuanEuros
Dhl europe package-f1¥0.80€0.12
Italy special line¥3.12€0.45
Dhl europe package-d¥2.63€0.38
European air freight-m¥6.14€0.89
European air freight-t¥8.77€1.27

The German side of that comparison is on HooBuy to Germany. A €0.12 gap on f1 will not decide where you order; the tax will matter more.

Italy costs a little more than Germany on every line, and f1 loses least.

22% IVA and a €3 duty for each category

IVA (imposta sul valore aggiunto) is Italy's VAT. The €150 duty exemption ended on 1 July 2026 for IOSS parcels sent to consumers. In its place the EU charges €3 for each separate tariff sub-heading in a parcel of up to €150 until 1 July 2028, per a Council press release dated 11 February 2026. Import VAT starts at the first euro and is 22% in Italy. A parcel with a coat and shoes can hold two categories, so the duty is €6, not €3 per item. HooBuy's help centre does not say how its Italy lines handle the €3.

Count categories, not items, when you total the duty.

Example item prices: a ¥380 coat and ¥260 shoes, 2,000 g

Both prices are examples, and we assume two categories. Domestic shipping in China and HooBuy's declaration fee are left out. Because we did not verify whether the IVA base includes freight and duty, both bases appear.

Goods: (380 + 260) / 6.91 = €92.62. Freight: ¥198.00 / 6.91 = €28.65. Duty: 2 x €3 = €6.00.

IVA on goods only: 92.62 x 0.22 = €20.38; total €147.65.

IVA on goods, freight and duty: 127.27 x 0.22 = €28.00; total €155.27.

Goods of €92.62 stay under the €150 limit. The declaration modes are explained on HooBuy's customs page.

This parcel lands between €147.65 and €155.27, about 1.59 to 1.68 times the goods price.

Leather shoes and other flags for Italy

HooBuy's help centre calls Italy "sensitive with importing leather shoes", with no detail. Its list of customs-sensitive goods also names batteries, power banks, liquids, powders and jewellery, and says goods that infringe trademarks are banned. If clearance fails because of the recipient, fines and return costs fall on the recipient. Declare what is in the box; HooBuy says too-low declarations risk inspection.

Shoes are the Italy-specific flag, so ask before sending leather.

Days to Italy: 11-16 listed, 78% shown at 8-15

HooBuy lists 11-16 days for f1 and 10-15 for the Italy special line. Its chart gives f1 14.75% in 0-7 days, 78.20% in 8-15 and 7.05% in 16-25, and the special line 13.55%, 79.02% and 7.43%. Nothing is shown slower than 25 days. We did not verify the chart; see HooBuy shipping time.

Plan on the listed 11-16 days; HooBuy's chart shows about 7% taking 16-25.

Volume: a 50 x 40 x 10 cm bag of knitwear

Such a bag holds 20,000 cm³, which is 3.33 kg when divided by the estimator's 6,000, 4.00 kg by 5,000 and 2.50 kg by 8,000. At 1.5 kg actual, f1 would charge about ¥148.50 (€21.49) by weight but ¥330.00 (€47.76) at 3.33 kg, scaled linearly. Our quotes ignored size. Compress the bag and test it in the HooBuy shipping calculator.

Soft goods bill by volume, so compress them.

Reviews, reliability and the Hold label

Italian searches for "recensioni" (reviews) and "è affidabile" (is it reliable) find Trustpilot, where HooBuy's TrustScore read 3.7 across 571 reviews, 29% of them one star, on 26 October 2026. Reviewers who paid between June and August 2026 describe orders that never moved past "Purchased"; we did not verify them. Our status page labels HooBuy Hold, so make the first order small, pay per order and leave the HooBuy wallet empty. Moving the row is covered on HooBuy alternatives, and the contact page reaches us on WhatsApp.

What HooBuy buyers ask

How much does HooBuy shipping to Italy cost for 1 kg?

HooBuy's estimator quoted ¥99.00 (€14.33 at HooBuy's rate of ¥6.91) for 1,000 g on DHL europe package-f1 on 26 October 2026. The Italy special line was ¥111.20 (€16.09) and European air freight-t ¥178.68 (€25.86). Doubling the weight to 2,000 g doubled the price. Duty, IVA and any volumetric weight are extra.

Is Italy's IVA charged on a small HooBuy parcel?

Yes. Import VAT starts at the first euro and is 22% in Italy, so HooBuy's article calling parcels up to €150 "usually exempt" is outdated. On our example goods of €92.62, 22% is €20.38 on goods alone. How HooBuy's lines collect it is not published, so ask HooBuy in writing before paying.

Is the €3 duty charged per item in Italy?

No, it is a flat €3 per different tariff category in a parcel up to €150, running from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2028. Our coat-and-shoes example holds two categories, so duty is €6 and the whole parcel lands between €147.65 and €155.27 depending on the IVA base. We did not verify that base.

Does HooBuy send leather shoes to Italy?

HooBuy's help centre calls Italy "sensitive with importing leather shoes" and gives no further detail, so we cannot say whether a given pair will clear. It also bans goods that infringe trademarks, and the recipient bears fines and return costs when clearance fails because of the recipient. Ask HooBuy support in writing before you send leather.

Why does the Italy special line cost more than package-f1?

At 1,000 g the Italy special line was ¥111.20 against ¥99.00 for f1, a difference of ¥12.20, with 10-15 days listed against 11-16. HooBuy does not explain the difference, and its own delivery chart shows similar spreads for both lines, so f1 looks the better value on these numbers. Neither figure includes tax or duty.

How much slower than listed can a HooBuy parcel to Italy be?

HooBuy's chart for f1 shows 7.05% of parcels in 16-25 days and none beyond, against 11-16 days listed. That is HooBuy's own statistic, which we did not verify, and HooBuy does not say whether the clock includes the time before dispatch, when reviewers from June to September 2026 reported orders stuck at Purchased.
