HooBuy's own rule for 1688 purchases
Most 1688 rows work through HooBuy's link code 0, as hoobuy.com/product/0/<offer ID>. We did not test that code on 26 October 2026; we opened only Weidian and Taobao items. What we did read is the 1688 clause in HooBuy's user agreement: the 1688 shopping-agent service helps you buy from 1688 sellers, but HooBuy "does not guarantee the quality" of 1688 products, gives no accurate inventory service, and offers only limited sampling and limited after-sales. A guaranteed purchase needs its expert sourcing service, which has no published price.
That wording differs from its Taobao advice, which only urges you to check the seller. On top, HooBuy is on Hold on this site (see HooBuy status): its pages worked, but June to September 2026 reviewers wrote of orders stuck at "Purchased". Pay per order and keep the first order small.
HooBuy accepts 1688 links but limits its own responsibility for them in writing.
One piece or four: where the money goes
1688 is a wholesale-style marketplace, so rows often show a low unit price. For a single piece, shipping can dominate. The item price below is a hypothetical ¥25; shipping is HooBuy's estimator quote for Germany on DHL europe package-f1 on 26 October 2026, weight only, at HooBuy's rate of ¥6.91 per €1.

The 8% row uses HooBuy's registration agreement, which states 8% of the goods and 8% of shipping, against a help article saying there is no service fee for 1688. Both are in HooBuy's pages, so we show both. Quotes were weight only; a bulky 1688 carton can bill on volume instead.
Four pieces cost four times one: the quotes were linear in weight, so the per-piece total stays ¥74.10 and freight stays about two-thirds of the bill.
When a parcel starts to look commercial
HooBuy's help centre says parcels over 10 KG are more likely to be treated as commercial, and advises against large quantities of one item. Customs inspection is spot checking, the recipient bears fines and return costs if clearance fails, and HooBuy makes no clearance promise. Size rules also apply: an item with one side of 90 cm or more ships on its own, and a parcel over 30 KG or with a side over 120 cm needs customised logistics.
For Germany, Italy and France, a temporary €3 duty applies per tariff category in parcels up to €150 since 1 July 2026, on top of import VAT; HooBuy's help centre does not describe it. Brazil needs the recipient's CPF, and the federal rule changed on 12 May 2026; read HooBuy to Brazil. Honest declarations matter more with many identical pieces.
A few mixed pieces are ordinary; dozens of one design is the pattern HooBuy itself warns about.
Four checks before a 1688 row joins an order
- Read the listing for a minimum or a price tier. Our notes hold no HooBuy statement on 1688 minimums, so ask support if it is unclear.
- Price one piece and the full quantity in the estimator, as in the table.
- Ask for the detailed photos you need. HooBuy charges ¥1 a photo; its help centre allows up to 20, while the order form capped it at 10.
- Check the seller dispatch window of 3 to 7 days against your own deadline.

Where a 1688 row goes if HooBuy stalls
Take the offer ID from the HooBuy link, rebuild the 1688 address and compare. Superbuy's fee page states no service fee on 1688, and KakoBuy lists 1688 among its officially well-supported platforms; the Superbuy page and KakoBuy page have the terms. Does HooBuy guarantee the quality of a 1688 purchase?
No. Its shopping-agent rules for 1688 say HooBuy does not guarantee quality, does not provide accurate inventory service, and offers only limited sampling and limited after-sales service. They add that you carry the risk and can use HooBuy's expert sourcing service for a guaranteed purchase. The price of that service is not published in the pages we read on 26 October 2026.
Does a single item cost less on 1688 than on Taobao?
Not necessarily. Our example makes the point: a ¥25 piece shipped alone at 500 g to Germany on HooBuy's estimator line costs ¥74.10, and ¥49.10 of that is shipping. A listing's unit price falls only if you can use a quantity tier, and our notes hold no HooBuy statement about 1688 minimums. Read the listing before you pay.
How many identical pieces make a parcel look commercial?
HooBuy publishes no piece count. Its help centre says parcels over 10 KG are more likely to be treated as commercial and advises avoiding large quantities of one item. It adds that customs spot-checks parcels and that the recipient carries the clearance risk. Four tees of 500 g each make 2 kg, far below those limits, but declare the value honestly.
Why does a HooBuy 1688 link need code 0?
HooBuy's link format is hoobuy.com/product/{code}/{item ID}, and its code for 1688 is 0 (Taobao 1, Weidian 2). We opened Weidian and Taobao through it on 26 October 2026 and did not test 1688. A third-party list from 5 October gives USFans 1 for 1688, a different numbering, so never copy the digit between agents.
What do I do when HooBuy holds a 1688 order at Purchased?
HooBuy says 1688 sellers dispatch within 3 to 7 days, with agent follow-ups from day 4 and then every 3 to 4 days. After that, open a ticket with your order screenshots. Because June to September 2026 reviewers described orders stuck at Purchased, pay per order and do not leave money in the HooBuy account.
