eBay listings in HooBuy sheets: what to do when the link format cannot open them

Status and facts checked .

Short answer: An eBay row cannot be bought through HooBuy's link format, which has codes only for 1688, Taobao and Weidian, so buy on eBay directly or look for the Chinese-marketplace version of the item. HooBuy's own return rules also exclude second-hand goods and goods from outside the Chinese mainland, and it states that it cannot authenticate brands. HooBuy is on Hold on this site.

Which HooBuy rules would apply to an eBay item

HooBuy's format has no eBay code, but its written rules show how an eBay-type item would be treated if it ever reached the warehouse. The picture is not friendly: second-hand and overseas goods sit on its no-return list, and it says it cannot authenticate brands.

Sealed itemsNot opened; only the exterior is checkedHelp ids 6, 1078, 115

The return window is also short: 5 days (120 hours) counted from the hour after the item is marked Stored. Our HooBuy status page explains why the service is on Hold, and the fees page covers the return charges.

Almost every HooBuy safeguard assumes a new item from a mainland seller, which an eBay listing often is not.

Can the eBay link itself be pasted into HooBuy?

No. The product address we opened on 26 October 2026 is hoobuy.com/product/{code}/{item ID}, with 0 for 1688, 1 for Taobao and 2 for Weidian. We tested a Weidian item, which opened; a Taobao link reached the login page; 1688 we did not test. An eBay address has no code and no matching item ID, and our link converter does not read it.

HooBuy's forwarding service is the only door that might take goods from elsewhere, and its help article (id 1077) describes it for domestic merchants, domestic users sending abroad and overseas users forwarding Taobao or Weidian goods. An eBay seller would have to post the parcel to HooBuy's warehouse in Xiamen first, which we do not recommend.

HooBuy offers no route for an eBay item, and its forwarding service is not built for one.

The Risk Reminder and brand listings

Many eBay finds in sheets are branded goods, so HooBuy's own warning is relevant. Its web app shows a "Risk Reminder" for a risky item, and the brand version says the product may be a specialised or branded item, that HooBuy lacks the capability to authenticate it and that any risk must be borne by you. The buttons read "I have read and willing to take all the risks" and "Continue and buy others".

The same idea appears in the help centre: customs-confiscated goods are the buyer's responsibility (ids 103, 28) and the product page says items come from third-party platforms with no HooBuy liability for IP-infringement issues. If your sheet row is a branded eBay listing, the question of what the goods are is not one HooBuy will answer for you. Trademark-infringing goods can also be seized at the border.

HooBuy tells you in writing that authenticity is your risk, so do not expect it to vouch for an eBay item.

Finding the Chinese-marketplace version instead

If the row points to an eBay listing only because the maker of the sheet found the item there, you can search for the same product on Taobao or Weidian, which are the platforms HooBuy and most agents are built for. Compare the yuan price, the seller's photos and the seller-to-warehouse shipping, then rebuild the link.

What a ¥250 example item costs to reach Germany through HooBuy (the item price and domestic fee are examples)

Item: ¥250.00
Seller to warehouse: ¥10.00
HooBuy line, 1,000 g: ¥98.20 (estimator, 26 October 2026, weight only)
Total: ¥358.20, which is €51.84 at HooBuy's own rate of ¥6.91 per €1
Import VAT, if charged at 19% on that sum: about €9.85

Set that against the eBay price plus the seller's postage. HooBuy's estimator also lists volumetric tags on every Germany line, so a bulky box can bill more than 1,000 g. With HooBuy on Hold, consider the open agents compared on the alternatives page, and pay per order with a small first order. The platforms hub lists all fourteen marketplaces.

A Chinese-marketplace twin is only worth the parcel if the landed total beats the eBay total.

Reading an eBay row before you click

  1. Check where the seller ships from and whether the listing ships to your country.
  2. Check condition: new, used or refurbished decides which return rules apply.
  3. Read the eBay return terms on the listing; we did not read them.

Keep the original eBay link next to the new one in the row tracker, and send us the row through the contact page if you want a second pair of eyes. The HooBuy spreadsheet home page shows how ordinary rows are laid out.

Settle condition, seller location and returns on eBay before the product goes anywhere near an agent.

What HooBuy buyers ask

Why would an eBay link appear in a HooBuy spreadsheet?

Usually because the sheet's author mixed retail finds with agent rows, or pasted a reference for the style of an item. We cannot see the author's reasons, and no HooBuy page describes eBay support. Treat the link as a pointer to a product, then search Taobao or Weidian for the same product if you want the agent route.

Does HooBuy's return guarantee cover something bought on eBay?

No. The 5-day return and exchange guarantee (ids 7 and 1564) lists second-hand goods and goods from outside the Chinese mainland, including overseas, Hong Kong and Macau, among items that cannot be returned or exchanged. Many eBay listings fall into one or both groups, so assume HooBuy would not take them back. eBay's own buyer terms are separate; read them on eBay.

Can HooBuy tell me whether an eBay item is authentic?

No. HooBuy states in its web-app Risk Reminder that it lacks the capability to authenticate branded items and offers only procurement and basic quality inspection, with any risk borne by you. Its help centre says the same in other words (ids 103 and 28). Authentication is a question for the seller and the marketplace you buy from.

Is an eBay price in euros comparable with a HooBuy price in yuan?

Only after conversion and after adding the agent's extra lines. HooBuy converts at its own rates, ¥6.91 per €1 on 26 October 2026, so ¥250 is €36.18. Then add the seller-to-warehouse fee, the international line (¥98.20 for 1,000 g to Germany on DHL europe package-f1, weight only) and import tax. An eBay price usually needs none of these steps.

Can I move an eBay row to another agent instead of HooBuy?

Not by link. The agent link formats in our notes are for Taobao, Weidian and similar Chinese marketplaces, and none describe an eBay format at any of the 31 agents we track. If the item exists on a Chinese marketplace, rebuild that link with the converter, then compare open agents on the alternatives page before you pay.
