Where "cheap" ends: the US$15 line, in yuan
People who search for a barato (cheap) row, or for links mais baratos in Portuguese, usually mean the sheet's yuan price. We use one ceiling: US$15. At HooBuy's own rate of ¥6.04 per US$1, that is ¥90.60. A row at ¥90 or below counts as cheap here, and the grid further down is filtered to the same limit.
The ceiling matters because HooBuy converts its own way. Its Weidian item page showed ¥147.68 as about $24.45 on 26 October 2026, which is the same ¥6.04. A sheet that lists a dollar price from a looser rate can make a row look cheaper than it will be at checkout.
What the sheet cannot show is everything after the item. In HooBuy's help centre the total is item cost, shipping abroad and customs charges, where item cost already includes the seller's domestic freight to the Xiamen warehouse. The declaration is generally ¥8 per parcel, depending on the line. The rest of this page puts numbers on those layers for rows under the line.
Cheap means ¥90.60 or less on the item; the bill is always bigger than that.
The cheapest shipping line for each country
We read HooBuy's estimator on 26 October 2026, entering a destination and an actual weight but no box size. Each country has a cheapest line, shown below with the price for 500 g and 1,000 g. Conversions use HooBuy's rates: ¥6.91 per €1, ¥6.04 per $1, ¥8.13 per £1. Full tables with every line are on HooBuy shipping cost.
| Country | Line | 500 g | 1,000 g | Days listed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | Uk rm small parcel-f | ¥41.68 (£5.13) | ¥83.36 (£10.25) | 6-12 |
| Germany | Dhl europe package-f1 | ¥49.10 (€7.11) | ¥98.20 (€14.21) | 10-15 |
| Italy | Dhl europe package-f1 | ¥49.50 (€7.16) | ¥99.00 (€14.33) | 11-16 |
| France | Dhl europe package-f1 | ¥51.40 (€7.44) | ¥102.80 (€14.88) | 12-17 |
| Brazil | Br-standard-f: 0-3kg | ¥61.90 ($10.25) | ¥123.79 ($20.50) | 15-30 |
| United States | Us direct line small packet-f | ¥81.65 ($13.52) | ¥163.30 ($27.04) | 9-15 |
Per gram, Germany costs about ¥0.098, Brazil ¥0.124 and the USA ¥0.163. The USA line is therefore the one where a light, cheap row suffers most: its 500 g price of $13.52 is already close to the whole US$15 ceiling. The estimator priced every line in a straight line with weight, with no first-weight step, so we scale these figures for the examples below. HooBuy's help article on combining parcels shows a GD-EMS route with a ¥205 first 500 g, so a real bill on another line can step.
The UK line is cheapest, Germany the cheapest EU line, and the USA the most expensive per gram.
Why shipping beats the item: a ¥45 tee, four destinations
Suppose a sheet lists a plain tee at ¥45 (an example price; US$7.45 at ¥6.04). It weighs 500 g packed. We add ¥10 of seller freight to the warehouse (also an example) and the generally-quoted ¥8 declaration, then the cheapest line from the table.
Germany: 45 + 10 + 49.10 + 8 = ¥112.10, which is €16.22 at ¥6.91. Shipping plus declaration is 57.10, or 51% of the bill; the tee is 40%.
Brazil: 45 + 10 + 61.90 + 8 = ¥124.90, or $20.68 at ¥6.04. Shipping plus declaration is 56% of the bill.
United States: 45 + 10 + 81.65 + 8 = ¥144.65, or $23.95. Shipping plus declaration is 62%.
United Kingdom: 45 + 10 + 41.68 + 8 = ¥104.68, or £12.88 at ¥8.13. The item is 43%.
In Germany the tee's delivered cost is 2.49 times its sticker price. For a row at the ¥90.60 ceiling the share shifts: 90 + 10 + 49.10 + 8 = ¥157.10 (€22.74), and shipping plus declaration falls to 36%. That is the pattern to remember. The cheaper the item, the more the fixed parts of the bill dominate, and only weight changes the shipping part.
These totals leave out any import tax, insurance and the service-fee question. HooBuy's pages disagree on whether a service fee exists, with one article saying none and the registration agreement stating 8%; the detail is on HooBuy fees. At 8% on a ¥45 item the difference would be ¥3.60, so on cheap rows the contradiction matters less than the shipping line.
On a ¥45 tee, the item is 40% of the German bill; shipping and declaration are 51%.
Three ¥30 rows: one parcel or three
The easiest saving on cheap rows is to stop paying fixed parts three times. Take three items from one seller at ¥30 each, 300 g each, to Germany on DHL europe package-f1. HooBuy's help centre says that when several items from one seller go in one checkout the domestic delivery fee is charged once, so we count ¥10 once.
One parcel, 900 g: items 90 + freight 10 + shipping 98.20 × 0.9 = 88.38 + declaration 8 = ¥196.38, or €28.42 at ¥6.91. That is ¥65.46 per item.
Three parcels, 300 g each: items 90 + freight 10 + three times (29.46 + 8) = 112.38, total ¥212.38 (€30.74).
Difference: 212.38 − 196.38 = ¥16, which is two extra declarations.
The saving here comes only from the declaration, because the estimator scaled linearly. With a line that has a first-weight step, one parcel would save more. HooBuy's own article warns that very heavy parcels and bulk copies of one item look commercial to customs; 900 g is nowhere near that. You can test other weights in the HooBuy shipping calculator.
Waiting has a cost too. Combining means items sit in storage until the last one arrives. The free storage period is 90 days after "Stored" according to HooBuy, and on Hold we would not leave goods there for long.
Combining three ¥30 rows saves ¥16 on this line; the real prize is a line with a first-weight step.
Which cheap rows survive the shipping maths
Three traits make a cheap row worth the freight, and they all concern weight and size. Check them on the item page, which shows weight in grams and volume in centimetres for the test Weidian item we opened.
- Under 300 g packed. Socks, caps, belts, phone cases, jewellery pieces and thin tees fit. At Germany's ¥0.098 per gram, 300 g costs about ¥29.
- Flat or foldable. Every estimator line carries the Volumetric tag, so a puffy item can bill by volume. HooBuy's FAQ divides length × width × height in cm by 6,000.
- No battery, liquid or sensitive part. The help centre keeps liquids and medicines to 10% of a parcel, and lists phones with batteries, magnets and power banks as risky for customs.
Rows that fail: a ¥60 hoodie at 800 g costs ¥78.56 to ship to Germany before the declaration, more than the garment; the same logic holds for heavy bags and shoes in boxes. Our category pages cover weight in detail, and the brick-set page at HooBuy brick sets shows how a cheap price hides box weight.
Choose rows by grams first and price second.
Cheap parcels and import tax: Brazil and the EU
Low value does not mean tax-free. For Brazil, Forbes Brasil (4 September 2026) describes a federal tax of 0% from 12 May 2026 for personal purchases up to US$50, but only via Remessa Conforme-certified platforms; ICMS, the state tax, still runs at 17% to 20%. Platforms outside the scheme pay 60% with no deduction, even under US$50. We could not verify whether HooBuy is certified, and its help article still describes the older 20% rule, so check Receita Federal's list. The US$50 counts product, shipping and insurance together; our Brazil example came to $20.68.
If the 60% rate applied to that $20.68, it would be $12.41, nearly 60% extra on the tee. Planilha buyers in Brazil should treat that as the downside case; the HooBuy to Brazil page covers CPF and the taxa das blusinhas (the "little blouses" tax) in full.
For the EU, the Council of the EU press release of 11 February 2026 says a temporary flat €3 duty has applied per tariff category since 1 July 2026 to parcels of up to €150, and import VAT has applied from the first euro since 2021 (19% in Germany). On our €16.22 German example, VAT alone would be about €3.08 if charged on the full amount, and one tariff category adds €3. HooBuy publishes nothing on how its parcels absorb the €3 duty, and its estimator tags the EU lines "Tax Free" without defining the term. Treat a cheap EU order as roughly one-third dearer until you see otherwise; details are on HooBuy to Germany.
Tax can add a third or more to a cheap parcel, and HooBuy has not published how it handles it.
Cheap rows are the right size for a Hold test
HooBuy carries our Hold label: the website, estimator and item pages all loaded on 26 October 2026, yet Trustpilot reviewers wrote of paid orders frozen at "Purchased" from June to September 2026, and Reclame Aqui lists 30 unanswered complaints. Those are individual reports we have not verified.
A cheap order is the sensible way to test this. Use one row under ¥90 as a first order, pay for that order only, and keep no money in the HooBuy account afterwards. Its help pages talk about funding an account; we prefer settling each order on its own, which matters more during a Hold. Screenshot the order page. If the status stays at "Purchased" beyond HooBuy's own stated timings (the agent chases an unshipped seller from day four), open a ticket.
If the row is cheap enough that fixed costs dominate, a different agent may price the same item better; HooBuy alternatives lists the fee and storage differences. No agent account wanted? Our contact page explains how to hand us a row over WhatsApp, still paid order by order.
One cheap row, paid alone, tells you more about HooBuy than ten rows in a basket.
Cheap-row questions we hear from buyers
What counts as a cheap row on a HooBuy spreadsheet?
We call a row cheap when the item costs under US$15, which is ¥90.60 using HooBuy's ¥6.04 per US$1 rate. That is the ceiling used by the photo grid on this page. The sticker price is only the first line of the bill, because seller freight, a declaration of generally ¥8 and international shipping all come afterwards.
Which country has the cheapest line per kilogram on HooBuy?
On 26 October 2026 the United Kingdom was lowest: Uk rm small parcel-f quoted ¥83.36 (£10.25 at HooBuy's rate of ¥8.13) for 1,000 g. Germany followed at ¥98.20 (€14.21), then Italy at ¥99.00, France at ¥102.80, Brazil at ¥123.79 and the USA at ¥163.30. All were weight-only quotes with no box size.
Is it worth shipping one cheap item on its own?
Rarely. In our ¥45 example, a 500 g tee to Germany costs ¥49.10 to ship plus ¥8 declaration, so about 51% of the ¥112.10 total is shipping and declaration. Adding two more light rows to the same parcel spreads the declaration, and the quoted price per gram stays the same when you add weight.
Do cheap HooBuy orders escape customs tax in Brazil?
Not by default. Forbes Brasil wrote on 4 September 2026 that the 0% federal rate up to US$50 needs a Remessa Conforme-certified platform, and ICMS of 17% to 20% is due either way. We could not verify HooBuy's certification, and uncertified platforms pay 60% with no deduction. Check the Receita Federal list before ordering.
Should I buy a cheap row now that HooBuy is on Hold?
A small order limits the damage, which is why we suggest it. Between June and September 2026 Trustpilot reviewers reported paid orders stuck at "Purchased", and HooBuy answered none of 30 Reclame Aqui complaints from April to September. Pay per order, screenshot the order page, and keep nothing in the HooBuy account afterwards.
Why does my cheap row cost more than the sheet says?
Sheets list the item price in yuan, often with a dollar figure from a different rate. HooBuy's own page converts at ¥6.04 per US$1, and a Weidian item we opened showed ¥147.68 as about $24.45. Seller freight to the warehouse, the declaration, shipping and any tax sit on top of that figure.
