How long HooBuy keeps your goods, what an extension costs and when items are destroyed

Status and facts checked .

Short answer: HooBuy stores goods free for 90 days counted from the status Stored, in its warehouse in Xiamen. After that, items you have not shipped or answered about are treated as abandoned and destroyed. Items stored 60 to 90 days can be extended for ¥10 per Product ID per month, up to 6 months in total. The 5-day return window is a separate, much shorter clock.

The 90-day rule: what HooBuy says it stores and for how long

HooBuy keeps goods free for 90 days, counted from the order status "Stored". Its help centre says that if you have still not submitted a parcel by day 90, or given no feedback, the goods are "automatically considered given up and will be destroyed" [id 113]. Another article repeats the 90-day period for parcels in the shopping-agent service [id 28]. Nothing we read describes a reminder email before that date, so treat the calendar as your job.

"Stored" means the item is in the warehouse and can ship at any time during the free period [id 8]. HooBuy counts the 90 days from that label, so note the date when your order page changes to Stored.

Free storage is 90 days from Stored; write the end date down the day it appears.

Two clocks: the 5-day return window and the 90-day storage period

The return clock and the storage clock start together but end very far apart. HooBuy's 5-Day Return/Exchange Guarantee counts 120 hours from the next hour after the status "Stocked in" or "Stored" [id 7, 1564]. The details of that guarantee, fees and exceptions are on our HooBuy refund and returns page; here only the dates matter.

Example, computed in Python: an item changes to Stored on 1 November 2026 at 10:30 (an example time).

Return window opens 11:00 on 1 Nov 2026 and closes 120 hours later: 11:00 on 6 Nov 2026.

Free storage: 1 Nov 2026 + 90 days = 30 Jan 2027 (a Saturday).

Extension possible from day 60: 1 Nov 2026 + 60 days = 31 Dec 2026, until 30 Jan 2027.

Maximum storage of 6 months: about 1 May 2027. That is roughly three paid months after the free period, and it is our reading, because HooBuy does not say whether the 6 months start at Stored.

One practical consequence: the return window is over before most buyers have finished comparing photos, but storage is not. Decide on returns in the first week and use the remaining weeks to bundle goods into a single parcel.

Check photos inside 5 days, then plan the parcel against the 90-day end date.

Extending storage: ¥10 per Product ID per month

HooBuy sells "Extend Storage" as a value-added service at ¥10 per Product ID per month. It is open only to items that have been stored for 60 to 90 days, and total storage cannot exceed 6 months [id 87]. HooBuy says an email and an internal message follow once it is processed.

Three items, two extra months:

3 items x ¥10 x 2 months = ¥60

¥60 / 6.91 = €8.68 (at HooBuy's own rate of ¥6.91 per €1)

¥60 / 6.04 = $9.93 (at HooBuy's own rate of ¥6.04 per US$1)

The fee is small against a parcel, so the real cost of waiting is the risk, not the yuan. If one item is delayed by a seller, an extension on the three already stored may be cheaper than splitting the parcel, since each extra parcel brings its own shipping bill and a customs declaration cost that HooBuy puts at generally ¥8, depending on the line [id 9]. You can compare line prices in the shipping calculator and read how HooBuy bills in our fees breakdown.

Extending three items for two months costs ¥60; use it only when one late item holds up the rest.

"Expired" means destroyed, not paused

HooBuy's status list defines "Expired" as "storage period ended or item abandoned; the item is destroyed" [id 8]. It sits in the same list as Stored and Completed, so it is a status that can appear on an order page; we found no article describing a warning before it does. We found no article that offers recovery, a refund for destroyed goods or a grace period. The full list of labels is on the HooBuy order status page.

Customs adds a second way to lose goods: HooBuy says the recipient bears seizure and return costs when clearance fails [id 84, 103]. That risk starts after shipping, so it is no reason to hold goods back; it is a reason to read the customs rules before you submit.

Expired is final; ship, extend or write off before the 90th day.

Where the warehouse is, and what Lager and magazzino mean

HooBuy's warehouse is in Xiamen, Fujian, in China. The help centre calls it a "third-party collaborative repository" [id 6, 19, 1078]. Seller parcels travel there domestically, 1 to 2 working days from the Pearl River Delta, 3 to 5 from the Yangtze River Delta and about 7 from remote areas [id 19, 23]. The help centre names no European or Brazilian stock point.

Buyers in Germany often search for the "Lager" (German for warehouse or storage), and Italian buyers for the "magazzino" (Italian for warehouse or storeroom). Both mean this same room in Xiamen; neither means you can collect anything locally. For arrival times after shipping, see HooBuy shipping time.

The warehouse is one place in Xiamen, and every storage day is spent in China.

Storage while HooBuy is on Hold

On our HooBuy status page HooBuy carries the label Hold: its site worked on 26 October 2026, but reviewers on Trustpilot and Reclame Aqui described paid orders stuck at "Purchased" and unpaid refunds between June and September 2026. HooBuy answered 0% of 30 Reclame Aqui complaints from 1 April to 30 September 2026. With that record, a 90-day countdown with an unanswered ticket is a poor mix.

  • Submit the parcel as soon as your last item is Stored, and pay for that parcel only.
  • Do not buy extensions "to be safe"; the days you pay for are more days of goods sitting in a warehouse while orders are on Hold.
  • For rows you have not bought yet, compare other agents and their storage terms first.

If you would rather skip an agent account while HooBuy is on Hold, send us the row on WhatsApp (see the contact page) and pay per order.

On Hold, treat storage as a short stop, not a place to keep things.

What HooBuy buyers ask

How long can I leave items in the HooBuy warehouse?

HooBuy's help centre gives 90 days counted from the status Stored. Past 90 days with no parcel submitted and no reply from you, the goods count as abandoned and are destroyed. An extension can raise the total to 6 months, but only for items already stored 60 to 90 days. Plan to ship well before day 90.

How much does HooBuy storage extension cost?

¥10 per Product ID per month, which is about €1.45 at HooBuy's own rate of ¥6.91 per €1. It applies only to items stored for 60 to 90 days, and total storage cannot pass 6 months. Three items extended for two months cost ¥60, roughly €8.68, or $9.93 at HooBuy's rate of ¥6.04 per US$1. Your card issuer may add its own charges, which HooBuy does not control.

What does the HooBuy status Expired mean?

Expired means the storage period ended or the item was abandoned, and HooBuy's status list says the item is destroyed. Nothing in the help centre describes a way to recover it afterwards. If you see Stored on an item near day 90, submit a parcel or pay for an extension before the date, not after.

Is the HooBuy warehouse in China or in Europe?

China. The help centre places the warehouse, which it calls a third-party collaborative repository, in Xiamen, Fujian. Items from Taobao, Weidian and 1688 sellers travel there first; a European shipping line starts only after you submit a parcel. We found no warehouse in Germany, Italy or Brazil in the help centre, so storage days run while goods sit in China.

Does the 5-day return window stop when storage starts?

No, they are two clocks that start together. The return window is 5 days (120 hours) from the next hour after Stocked in or Stored, and the free storage runs 90 days from Stored. Missing the 5-day window does not shorten storage, and storing longer does not reopen the return window.

Should I leave goods in HooBuy storage while it is on Hold?

We advise against it. On our Hold label, the safest use of the warehouse is the short wait while items arrive and you check photos; then submit the parcel and pay for that shipping only. Reviewers describe repeated automated replies and unpaid refunds since June 2026, so a long wait may leave you without a human answer before day 90.
