Brazil lines in dollars at ¥6.04, and their weight ranges
A planilha (Portuguese for spreadsheet) row bound for Brazil starts with the freight bill. On 26 October 2026 we asked HooBuy's estimator for Brazil at three weights, giving no box size, and it returned four lines tagged Insurance Available, VAT and Volumetric. Dollar figures follow HooBuy's rate, not the customs office's.
| Line | 0.5 kg | 1 kg | 2 kg | Days listed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Br-standard-f: 0-3kg | $10.25 (¥61.90) | $20.50 (¥123.79) | $40.99 (¥247.58) | 15-30 |
| Hoo-br-line-d | $11.93 (¥72.04) | $23.85 (¥144.08) | $47.71 (¥288.16) | 12-30 |
| Hoo-electronic-t | $16.08 (¥97.13) | $32.16 (¥194.26) | $64.32 (¥388.52) | 12-30 |
| BR-STANDARD-F:2-30kg | — | — | $44.92 (¥271.32) | 15-30 |
Ranges sit in the names. Br-standard-f: 0-3kg is for parcels up to 3 kg; BR-STANDARD-F:2-30kg starts at 2 kg, so it has no 500 g or 1,000 g price. At 2,000 g, where the ranges overlap, the 2-30 kg line cost ¥23.74 ($3.93) more. The other two lines show no range. More countries are on HooBuy shipping cost.
Keep the packed parcel under 3 kg to stay on the cheapest line, about US$20 a kilogram.
CPF: the number customs ties to the parcel
HooBuy asks for the recipient's tax ID when the destination is Brazil, and the Brazilian version is the CPF, the individual taxpayer number. Its web app says the full name and number "must match your official documents exactly". How the CPF reaches customs is not published. The exact strings and formats are on HooBuy tax ID and CPF.
Check the CPF and name against your documents before paying the parcel fee.
The US$50 rule, with the formulas
Forbes Brasil (4 September 2026) describes a rule in force from 12 May 2026: individuals who buy through a platform certified in Remessa Conforme, the customs compliance scheme, owe no federal import tax up to US$50. The same piece covers what Brazilians call the taxa das blusinhas, "little blouses fee", the popular name for the tax on small overseas purchases. The Senate approved it on 3 September 2026; we did not confirm sanction, so check the Receita Federal.
| Parcel value V | Certified platform | Platform outside the programme |
|---|---|---|
| Up to US$50 | 0% | 60% x V |
| US$50.01 to US$3,000 | 60% x V - US$30 | 60% x V |
State ICMS adds 17% to 20% by state, calculated "por dentro", meaning inside its own base: R$100 at 17% gives about R$20.48, which is 100 / 0.83 x 0.17. Whether HooBuy appears on the certified list we could not verify; its own help article still states the earlier rule of 20% under US$50.
Whether 0% applies depends on the platform's status, which we could not confirm for HooBuy.
Example item price: ¥200 on Br-standard-f, 1,000 g
Insurance is 3% of (item or declared value + shipping) per HooBuy's help centre; we left out China domestic shipping and the declaration fee.
Item and line: ¥200 + ¥123.79 = ¥323.79.
Insurance: ¥323.79 x 0.03 = ¥9.71, so V = ¥333.50, which is $55.22 at ¥6.04.
Certified platform: 0.6 x 55.22 - 30 = $3.13. Outside the programme: 0.6 x 55.22 = $33.13.
ICMS at 17%: 55.22 / 0.83 x 0.17 = $11.31; at 20%: $13.81. Total in dollars: $69.66 certified, $99.66 outside, both with ICMS at 17%.
On this line V reaches US$50 at an item price of ¥169.41. At ¥120, V is $41.57 and a certified platform charges 0% federal; at ¥400, V is $89.32, with $23.59 certified against $53.59 outside. We applied ICMS to V alone; whether the base includes federal tax is not in our notes.
Below ¥169.41 of goods a certified platform charges nothing federal; above it, tax grows slowly.
Delivery: 15-30 days listed, 72% shown under a week
HooBuy lists 15-30 days for Br-standard-f and 12-30 for the other two lines, yet its own chart for the same lines puts 71.52%, 72.40% and 72.70% of parcels in the 0-7 day bucket. Another 23.85%, 25.05% and 23.46% fall in 8-15 days. HooBuy does not say when the clock starts, and we did not verify the figures. See HooBuy shipping time.
Treat the days listed as the plan and the chart as HooBuy's claim.
Volume: a 35 x 25 x 20 cm box is 2.92 kg
Billing uses whichever is greater, actual or volumetric weight: the estimator FAQ divides length x width x height (cm) by 6,000, while the help centre cites divisors between 5,000 and 8,000. A 35 x 25 x 20 cm box (17,500 cm³) that weighs 1 kg actual is 2.92 kg at 6,000, 3.50 at 5,000 and 2.19 at 8,000. Scaled linearly, 2.92 kg on Br-standard-f is ¥361.05 ($59.78), past US$50 before the goods; at 5,000 it also exceeds the 0-3 kg range. Try sizes in the HooBuy shipping calculator.
For Brazil, measure the box: volume can break both the line and the US$50 line.
Complaints, insurance and the Hold label
On our status page HooBuy is labelled Hold. The site and estimator answered on 26 October 2026, but on Reclame Aqui, Brazil's main complaints site, HooBuy answered none of the 30 complaints lodged between 1 April and 30 September 2026. Searches for "é confiável" (is it reliable) lead to our HooBuy legitimacy review. Pay per order, nothing left in the HooBuy wallet.
HooBuy's help centre says Brazil parcels without insurance get no compensation, and its Brazil section gives the claim window as 120 calendar days while its exclusions say 90. Details are on HooBuy insurance. No agent account wanted? Message us from the contact page with the row.
Insure Brazil parcels, claim within 90 days, and pay per order.
What HooBuy buyers ask
How much does HooBuy shipping to Brazil cost per kilogram?
HooBuy's estimator quoted ¥123.79 ($20.50 at HooBuy's rate of ¥6.04) for 1,000 g to Brazil on Br-standard-f: 0-3kg on 26 October 2026. The dearest, Hoo-electronic-t, was ¥194.26 ($32.16) and Hoo-br-line-d ¥144.08. Quotes were weight only, before tax and insurance, so a bulky box can bill more. Doubling the weight doubled the price on that line.
Is a HooBuy parcel to Brazil tax-free under US$50?
Only if the platform is certified in Remessa Conforme. Forbes Brasil's report of 4 September 2026 puts the federal tax at 0% up to US$50 through certified platforms and at 60% with no deduction outside them, even under US$50. We could not verify HooBuy's status, and ICMS applies either way, so check the Receita Federal list.
Does shipping count towards the US$50 limit?
Yes. Forbes Brasil says the US$50 includes product, shipping and insurance. A ¥200 example item sent 1,000 g on Br-standard-f with 3% insurance comes to ¥333.50, or $55.22 at HooBuy's rate, so the parcel passes US$50 even though the goods alone are $33.11. Items up to about ¥169.41 stay under it on that line.
How is ICMS worked out on a Brazil parcel?
ICMS is a state tax of 17% to 20% calculated "por dentro", inside its own base. Forbes Brasil's example is R$100 at 17%, about R$20.48, which is 100 / 0.83 x 0.17. On our ¥200 example (US$55.22) that is US$11.31 at 17% and US$13.81 at 20%. These are example prices.
Why does HooBuy list 15-30 days when its chart shows most parcels under a week?
HooBuy lists 15-30 days for Br-standard-f, while its own chart gives 71.52% of parcels in 0-7 days, 23.85% in 8-15 and 4.63% in 16-25. HooBuy does not say when its clock starts, and we did not verify the chart, so plan for the listed range and allow longer if the order stalls at Purchased.
Do I need a CPF to receive a HooBuy parcel in Brazil?
Yes. HooBuy's web app asks for the recipient's tax ID when the destination is Brazil, calls it the CPF, and says the full name and number must match official documents exactly. The help centre does not describe the customs process afterwards, so it is not published, and an ID that HooBuy rejects as invalid must be replaced with a new name and number.
